Amazon’s Prime subscription costs INR 999 annually but the e-commerce giant has an offer for new Prime members that lets you grab an annual subscription for half that price. But you’ll probably have to pay attention to one particular detail to ensure you can avail of this limited offer.
The ‘Youth offer’ will only let new subscribers aged 18-24 years eligible to avail an INR 500-worth cashback. There’s also another prerequisite that you need to bear in mind: this offer stands applicable only to Android users (via the app or a mobile browser of choice), not for those trying to sign up using their desktop or desktop iOS device.
The cashback offer is also applicable to those opting for a 3-month subscription, which normally costs INR 329. That brings the effective price of the plan down to INR 165 after cashback.
How to avail of Amazon’s ‘Youth Offer’ for a discounted Prime subscription?
Step 1: Sign-up using Amazon’s Android app or a mobile browser.
Step 2: Verify your age by uploading an ID Proof which could be your – Aadhar Card, PAN Card, Voter ID Card or Driver’s License.
Step 3: Upload a selfie – yes, that’s part of the verification process.
Step 4: Once the verification process is complete, you should be able to see INR 500/ INR 165 credited to your Amazon Pay balance account within 48 hours.
In keeping with the Reserve Bank of India’s recent mandate on recurring transactions, Amazon was recently forced to do away with its one-month subscription tier which was perhaps the go-to option for new subscribers. The Seattle-based e-commerce juggernaut has also discontinued its free trial offered to new Prime members, so this new ‘Youth offer’ could be Amazon’s way of luring in new subscribers.
